Greetings, rockers. There’s a variety of stuff popping up in the rock music news world this week. We’ve got some new records, a documentary, and other cool stuff on the horizon. Sound good? Good.
Roger Waters Performs Updated Version of The Wall
Even folks that have never been Pink Floyd fans have heard of their legendary record, The Wall. Well, if you are a Pink Floyd fan, then you should be overjoyed to hear that the main man behind The Wall, Roger Waters, will be performing an updated version of the famous classic rock album 36 times from September to December of this year during his North American Tour. Waters writes in his blog, explaining the updated performance:
“This new production of The Wall is an attempt to draw some comparisons, to illuminate our current predicament, and is dedicated to all the innocent lost in the intervening years. I feel it is my responsibility as an artist to express my, albeit guarded, optimism, and encourage others to do the same. To quote the great man, ‘You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.’”
Like all of Waters’ past performances, this one is sure to be a crowd pleaser, and fill his tour with something interesting and new.
The Doors’ When You’re Strange
A couple weeks ago, The Doors’ When You’re Strange documentary released in a few theatres across the US. The documentary has been doing pretty well, and apparently grossed about $65,000 on its first weekend in just 8 theaters. If you’re a Doors fan such as myself, the documentary will prove to be quite interesting. Also, Rhino Records is holding a contest to win a T-shirt, signed poster, and the soundtrack for the film. Ozzy Osbourne Is Ready To Scream in June
I give a lot of credit to rockers that just never stop. It’s one of the most admirable things I see in the music industry. Ozzy is one of those rockers, and he is now releasing his 10th studio album, and in true Ozzy fashion, labeled Scream. Produced by Ozzy and Kevin Churko, Scream features Ozzy’s new guitarist, Gus G. Gus adds to the full lineup of Tommy Clufetos on drums, Adam Wakeman on keyboards, Blasko on bass, and of course, Ozzy Osbourne on vocals. The new album was recorded mostly in Ozzy’s Los Angeles studio, The Bunker, and is set to release June 15th this year, via Epic Records.
Jeff Beck is Back, Emotion & Commotion Available Now, Tour As Well
If you haven’t heard that Jeff Beck has released a new album, let this be your initiation of going out and ordering it. At 65 years old, Jeff Beck is still one of my favorite guitarists, and this new album is very pleasing to the ears. The album is available all over the internet, and definitely worth at least a listen. Most of the album consists of slower songs, but there really is something for everyone. There’s even a cover of “I Put A Spell On You” featuring singer Joss Stone, which is an interesting break from this diverse and soothing record.
Jeff is also on tour, through the month of June. If you’d like to see a live performance of this most-acclaimed guitarist, check his tour dates.
HDNet Concert Series: See Your Stars In HD
HDNet has been hosting an fantastic Concert Series on various networks, which should interest those of you who not only like music, but television as well. The series listing shows many great artists, including some of my favorites like Eric Johnson, Paul McCartney, and the Foo Fighters. All concerts are aired in amazing HD quality, and will be sure to fill that gap in your heart when you can’t make it to a real concert.
Have a great week everyone, and as always, keep on rocking.
